Step 10

We have come to the installation of the heat source. Of course, this is going to be different depending on what you have chosen to use. I chose an electric burner. It just so happened that this burner came with a little control and mounting box so I cut my holes accordingly to fit all of that in the bottom.

The general idea is that you want the fit to be fairly snug and you want the element to sit slightly above the level of the bottom of the fridge.

Of course, if your burner is like mine, you are going to need something to hold the assembly in place so it doesn't just drop right out and onto the ground.

I rigged up a rolling system that would enable me to slide a supporting tray underneath the assembly. I used a couple pieces of track railing bolted to the sides of the fridge as my guides to slide my tray in.

With the guides in place, I used some scrap pieces of din rail mounted on rollers to make a sliding tray.

It doesn't slide in and out as smoothly as I would have liked due to deviations in the dip and curve of the fridge side walls but it does the trick. Here are some shots of it installed and holding up my burner assembly.
